Everything changed when the motion blur attacked.

Jack is a 20 year-old from Aberdeen and the only member of the crew currently living in another city. Formerly a student of Artificial Intelligence & Software Engineering at the University of Edinburgh, Jack left the course in early 2012 and now works full-time in retail.

Jack is in charge of running The Beard Network’s various social media accounts, such as Facebook and Twitter, but he also contributes to video production and writing.

Jack’s gaming heritage began on Boxing Day 2001 with a PlayStation 2 and a copy of Crash Bandicoot. The following year, he bought his first gaming magazine and instantly became intrigued by video game critique. In early 2011, Jack was invited by Nic to write for ‘Press “Start” to Play!’, a blog that would eventually spawn the ‘Players’ comic, drawn by Nic and written primarily by Jack. Productivity eventually slowed to a complete stop due to university workloads, until The Beard Network was proposed.

Jack played exclusively under the PlayStation brand for nine years, developing a particular soft spot for rivalling franchises Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank. By the time he joined forces with Nic, Jack had branched out onto Xbox 360, PC, Nintendo DS and iOS, though he remains – first and foremost – a PlayStation fan. His favourite games include Pokémon Black & White, LittleBigPlanet, Halo Reach, Mass Effect, Portal 2, Shadow of the Colossus, Civilization IV and PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

When not playing video games, Jack can be either be found underneath his fez, listening and flailing along to the works of Michael Jackson, or obsessively organising his game boxes.
