So, I’m sat in my room, on my bed. My xbox is on and I’m on the main menu of Injustice: Gods Among Us. Now I’m preparing to write a lot, because I enjoy it and because I have a lot to cover.
The things I will be covering are: Anime, Games, Tv series, Youtube, Movies and finally probably more games. Let’s get started:
Anime
What anime have I been watching recently? Well, for starters I am watching One Piece but I’m not rushing through the episodes. It’s kind of like I go to it every so often when I can’t think of anything else to watch really… Don’t get me wrong, it’s great but I just don’t want to feel like I’m committing to a massive journey, only to get bored halfway through and never go back. So I’m taking it slow and enjoying it.
Then there’s Accel World. If you don’t know what this is, go watch the first episode. It’s basically about a boy who, in a futuristic world where computers are integrated with people via Neuro-Links, is shown something called Brain Burst. In this world you have an avatar that takes the form of you in a way. It represents you. Brain Burst allows you to take on the form of a fighting Avatar, which again represents your fighting style and abilities and it lets you fight other people who also have Brain Burst. The catch is you have a certain number of points and if you win, you gain some. Lose and they go down. Hit 0 and you’re done, Brain Burst deletes itself and you can never play again. Also it’s an illegal program so it’s very secretive. The anime is amazing and the series is finished at 26 episodes, not including the OVA.
I’ve also been re-watching Outlaw Star, which I first saw about 15 years ago when good anime was still shown on TV over here in Scotland/Britain. I’ll save you the massive wall of text I could make explaining the anime and simplify it as such: Space Western with Space Pirates and lots of cool characters. Me and my good friend Steven would pretend to be the main characters Gene and Jim at lunchtime in our younger days. Good times. This anime is a large part of my childhood and remains my favorite out of all of them.
Now, this isn’t a series but a film: The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. Not a lot to say about this except it’s touching and very well written. If you’ve seen it, you’ll know what I mean. If not, Try and find a copy or watch it online. You won’t regret it.
I also watched Tales From Earthsea for the second time and I really enjoyed myself again!
Now onto GAMES
Recently I’ve been immersing myself in only 3 games, which is unusual for me. The first is obvious if you’ve been following my channel: Happy Wars. I first started playing this simply because it was free. I thought I’d enjoy it for a couple of days, pick up some easy Gamerscore and be done with it. I was wrong. This game is incredible! It’s so simple yet so entertaining! The basic outline is you play as either a Warrior(Attack), Mage (Support) or a Cleric(Heal/Buff) and each class has it’s own unique abilities (both personal and group abilities, also you can use buffs on yourself or teammates.). Your objective is to fight your way to the opposing teams castle and break in, taking down their Big Tower to win. If not, then you can win by owning over 50% of the smaller towers around the map if time runs out. You can use these smaller towers to spawn at if you die as well. I’ve been favoring the Mage character and (not blowing my own horn too much) I’m pretty good. I am in the top 3 players 90% of the time and I’m the best mage player of the game 99% of the time. All in all this game is highly addictive and the fact it’s free is a mega bonus! If you have an Xbox and Xbox Live Gold I urge you to download this game and play it!
I’ve also been playing League of Legends on my laptop. While I don’t find it as fun as Happy Wars I do thoroughly enjoy this game. That said I’m not too fond of the community thus far. A lot of them seem to have the mindset of “I am the best and my team will only weigh me down if they don’t do exactly as I say. Also if we lose, it’s not because the enemy team had better tactics, it’s because my team are a bunch of poo throwing monkeys who can’t co-ordinate themselves.” The fact this game let’s you have custom matches against bots is a massive relief. You can invite friends in and just have fun! Also there are microtransactions in the game but they give you two ways to buy new Champions (playable characters) You can buy Riot Points and purchase them, or play matches and earn Influence Points (IP) and use that to purchase Champions. You need a lot of IP to buy Champions though.
The last game I’ve been playing is Injustice: Gods Among Us. This game is made by the same people who made Mortal Kombat and it feels very similar. Now, before any of you say “HOW COULD THEY?!” I am here to tell you that it doesn’t at all feel like MK with new skins. It handles similar, but all fighting games do. Injustice let’s you play as DC Comics greatest Heroes and Villains in a story mode which puts you against both friend and foe, with an ultimate showdown that can be rather challenging. (Spoiler alert, The Joker is secretly a ghost the whole time and is the father of Luke Skywalker.) Aside from the story mode you have your online with 1v1 matches, King of The Hill ect… and there’s Battle mode which is basically like MK’s ladder match but there are a lot of different Battle Scenarios. Some will see your ladder only have Heroes or Villains. Some will have you poisoned and slowly losing health through the fight. You get the idea… There’s also the S.T.A.R Lab Missions. You have a fight and 3 potential starts to gain by completing 3 objectives. The objectives will usually be “Defeat [Opponent]” “Slight Adjustment to fight style, I.E No jumping, No throwing” and “Time Limit” but there’s a lot of variations. In short, this game is a lot of fun and I fully intend to 100% the achievements.
TV SERIES
Not a lot to say about TV series at the moment other than the fact I rewatched Season One of The Walking Dead. A series I like a lot. It was kind of cool to go back to the very start and see how the characters have all changed. Seeing how they react to situations they are now very used to.
The only other TV related thing I watched recently was Season Four of Heroes. As one of my all time favorite TV series, I was quite sad when they announced they were stopping Heroes. Especially with the cliffhanger that ended season 4. SPOILER ALERT AHEAD! SKIP PARAGRAPH IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW! After Peter mimicked Samuel’s power and fought him back so he wouldn’t kill innocent people, Claire decided it was time for the world to learn about “Specials” (people with abilities) and threw herself off a Ferris Wheel. Those who know Heroes will know she can regenerate herself so she wasn’t hurt. Also watching Sylar steadily become more and more evil from Season 1 and see him become the hero in Season 4 after Matt Parkman telepathically traps him inside his worst nightmare, being alone, only for Peter to go in after him to save him after having a premonition that Sylar saves a key person. The time spent in Sylar’s nightmare for the two is five years. On the outside it’s only half a day. The five years is enough to make Sylar realize he doesn’t want to die alone and he must change his ways.
All said, Heroes is an amazing series and I’d love to see it back again!
YOUTUBE
I daresay this is a common topic for us all. I am a massive fan of youtube. If you didn’t guess from the fact I’m on there every day without fail and I use it myself for my own videos. I find myself subscribing to a lot of gameplay channels that make me laugh, only to realize that they stop uploading for months and I unsubscribe so I can keep my Sub Bar short and easy to use. Nowadays I only really watch a handful of channels for every video they upload. If I miss the first few videos of a series then I most likely won’t bother to try and catch up though. No time fo dat and all that jazz.
MOVIES
Recently I have only seen one new movie: Star Trek: Into Darkness. I saw this film with a friend and we both really enjoyed it. The plot was well made and the cameo return of Spock Prime, played by Leonard Nimoy was excellent. The main antagonist, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, is very clever and there are a few times when you won’t see something coming and it’ll blow you away. I much preferred this one over the first Star Trek, but I really liked that film too!
Other films I want to see:
World War Z, even though I know it’s a lot different than the books, for a straight up zombie film it looks good.
Fast and Furious 6: Simply because I own all the others and I enjoyed them.
Man of Steel: If they do this film right, it’ll be a strong contender for Film of the Year. I have high hopes and crossed fingers.
MORE GAMES
The only reason I added this is because every now and then I’ll play Osu or Minecraft and I didn’t want them to feel left out.
Now, I’m going to look for some pictures to add to this, proof read it and post it. Then go back to Injustice. Ok I lied… I probably won’t proof read it. I’m far too lazy for that kind of work.
Til Next Time!
